Gallagher starred at Selhurst Park last season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists from central midfield.

However, it looks unlikely that the Eagles will be able to lure him back to the club, with Chelsea reportedly ready to give him a chance in their squad next season.

Patrick Vieira is now keen to bring Gibbs-White in instead, after his fruitful loan spell in the Championship with Sheffield United.

The youngster, who played in a more advanced role, recorded 11 goals and nine assists for the Blades, which has led to interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

It appeared that Forest were favourites for his signature, with Steve Cooper keen to reunite with a player he had in his England under-17 World Cup-winning team.

Frank Lampard’s Everton are also interested, but Palace may be in the driving seat as Vieira looks to continue signing young talent.

The south Londoners have a plethora of exciting youngsters, including the likes of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, and Tyrick Mitchell.

And Gibbs-White could be the latest to join the electrifying side Palace are building.
