England’s road to Qatar will become clearer next month once FIFA officially makes the draw for the tournament.
Qualification for the 2022 edition will be concluded soon and the Three Lions can afford to look ahead having already booked their spot.
Qatar will be the last World Cup to follow a 32-team format before FIFA expands it to 48 teams at the 2026 tournament in North America.
Yet unusually the draw will go ahead with only 31 of the participating nations confirmed.
This is due to Ukraine’s qualifying play-off semi-final against Scotland being postponed until June following Russia’s invasion.
In the meantime, talkSPORT.com has all you need to know about the 2022 World Cup draw…
World Cup 2022 draw: Date and start time
The draw is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 1 in Doha, Qatar.
The ceremony will take place in the evening but at 11:30am in the UK.
The World Cup will be split into eight groups of four, with one team from each Pot, as has been the case since the last revamp in 1998.
England are currently one of seven seeded teams heading into Pot 1 but FIFA will use the updated rankings published on March 31 for the draw.
