Tottenham beat West Ham thanks to Heung-min Son brace as FOUR protesters fail in attempt to tie themselves to goalposts during second half

Heung-min Son hit a brace as Tottenham beat West Ham 3-1 in their London derby on Saturday.

Kurt Zouma inadvertently opened the scoring with an own goal before Son doubled Spurs’ lead. Said Benrahma pulled a goal back just before half-time, but the visitors were unable to capitalise and the South Korean star sealed the win late on.

The action began with Spurs going ahead in the ninth minute, benefitting from yet another own goal.

Matt Doherty won the ball high up, played it to Harry Kane, who squared it to Son but the last touch came from Zouma.

It was the tenth time an opposition player has put through his own net against Spurs in all competitions this season.

Son, who earlier hit the post, made it 2-0 in the 24th minute and Kane was again the provider.

The 29-year-old latched onto a defence-splitting pass before lashing the ball past Fabianski, with the aid of a deflection.

West Ham pulled a goal back ten minutes before the break against the run of play as Benrahma fired home when a corner was flicked on to the far post by Craig Dawson.

At the start of the second half there was a flashpoint when the ball was out of play.

As Son walked over to take a corner, Zouma kicked the ball and it hit him in the back. Son went down and the two sets of players clashed in response, though ultimately the referee calmed things down.

During this break in play there were attempts by four pitch invading protestors to tie themselves to the goalposts in the same way a protester did at Goodison Park on Thursday night.

However, stewards intercepted all three before they could attach themselves.

There was little else to write home about until the closing minutes of the second half as Spurs wrapped up the win at the death when Son raced onto Kane’s header and slotted home.

The result sees Spurs move above Manchester United and into fifth place. Antonio Conte’s men are three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and have played one match less than their north London rivals.
