Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his excellent goalscoring streak as he gave new club Barcelona the lead against Real Madrid.
In his first El Clasico appearance, the former Arsenal man headed beyond Thibaut Courtois as he latched onto Ousmane Dembele’s cross from the right.
Barca took charge of the Bernabeu clash with Ronald Araujo putting them 2-0 up at half time.
Time will tell on whether winning this match will be enough for the Catalonians to mount a late LaLiga title push but there’s no doubting Aubameyang has been a revelation since joining in January.
He now has six goals in seven league appearances for his new club, his form leading to Arsenal superfan Piers Morgan reaching out to the player, saying he ‘misses’ him.
After Aubameyang netted in Barcelona’s win over Osasuna on March 13, Morgan tweeted: “Arsenal fans have spent the past two hours gloating about why we’re so much better without Aubameyang and they’re so glad he’s gone.
“Meanwhile, he just scored his sixth goal in nine games for Barcelona, which includes five goals in six LaLiga games.
“I miss you, Auba.”
Aubameyang said in response to Morgan’s message: “Thanks Piers, but sometimes everyone benefits from a separation.
“Most important is that everyone is happy now, and we had good times that I will not forget.”
