Arsenal’s outcast midfielder Lucas Torreira lost a tooth whilst scoring in back-to-back games for the first time in his career, denting Inter Milan’s title hopes in a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
The Uruguayan is in his second season away from the Emirates after spending the previous campaign with Atletico Madrid, but may have finally found a home in Tuscany.
Taking on reigning Serie A champions Inter, Torreira opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a quick finish to net goals in consecutive games for the first time as a professional footballer.
The 26-year-old then received a knock to the face, losing his tooth, which he took over to the touchline before playing on with a cotton bud in his mouth, which later fell out to reveal his new gappy smile.
Inter equalised five minutes after Torreira’s goal through Dutch wingback Denzel Dumfries, but failed to find a winner and fell further behind in Italy’s title race.
As for Fiorentina, the Viola continue to stake a claim for European football this season, despite losing main man Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus in the January transfer window.
Torreira is now the team’s joint-top league scorer following the €70million departure of Vlahovic, with just four goals helping keep Fiorentina in the hunt for a top six finish.
