History-maker Tammy Abraham has become a Roma hero and has scored more goals than the likes of Harry Kane this season

Tammy Abraham will have made himself a Roma hero in the eyes of many as he scored twice in their 3-0 win over local rivals Lazio.

The England striker made a blistering start in the Rome derby as he scored after just 56 seconds of the Stadio Olimpico clash, bundling the ball in from close range following a corner from the left.

He doubled Roma’s lead in the 22nd minute as he struck the ball into the top corner when getting on the end of a cross from the right.

A 40th-minute goal from Lorenzo Pellegrini sealed Roma’s bragging rights on derby day as the victory sees them leapfrog their Italian capital adversaries.

Videos of the Roma faithful singing Abraham‘s name have emerged on social media, while the 24-year-old enjoyed a dance in the stadium alongside a journalist after the match.

Since joining the Serie A side last summer, Abraham has settled in well having netted 23 goals in all competitions this season, which is more than any other English player.

Abraham has also made club history for Roma with his brace seeing him go out on his own for most goals in a debut season for Roma, overtaking Gabriel Batistuta and Vincenzo Montella (both 21) in the process.

But despite all these achievements, Roma boss Jose Mourinho is demanding more from his player.

“Great performance,” Mourinho said.

“Today was really special because it seemed that everything we had planned was put on the field, Lazio in the second half tried to play with pride but we never lost control. No doubt, the boys deserved the victory.

‘When you say Abraham is fantastic I disagree, he can do even more. I demand a lot of him because I know his potential, I’m not talking about goals but he must play every game with this attitude.”
