MindFly’s AI-powered bodycam was used during AC Milan’s 2-1 pre-season friendly win over FC Koln on Saturday night.
It gave fans a unique, never-before-seen viewing experience and captured Olivier Giroud’s chip against the German side.
The idea is for fans to be able to watch games from a player’s First-Person Point of View (FPV), therefore eliminating the distance between the player and supporter.
A lightweight AI bodycam vest is used and has the state of the art technology, which captures the player’s eye view.
Eran Tal, who is the co-founder at MindFly, confirmed Saturday’s clash at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne would feature MindFly.
“We’re very excited to be featured in 1. FC Cologne’s upcoming match,” he told StartUpHub.
“Using MindFly in football brings the excitement of the pitch to the fans. Our lightweight AI vests are designed to keep the player’s performance and feel the same as wearing a GPS vest, and athletes forget they are wearing it after a few minutes.”
Two players from Koln, Timo Hubers and Tim Lemperle, wore MindFly vests for the match against AC Milan, and the technology provided some incredible views.
The Bundesliga side posted a video on Twitter showing the bodycam footage of Florian Dietz’s goal in the 86th minute.
Away from the new technology, Giroud’s first goal of the evening on 36 minutes was the pick of the bunch.
The World Cup winner, who netted 16 goals in 40 appearances for club and country last campaign, picked the ball up on the edge of the area before curling it beyond Marvin Schwabe to make it 2-0 before
Milan fans will be hoping to see more from the French forward as the Serie A giants look to retain their domestic crown next season.
