Chelsea forward Kai Havertz went for top bins on Sunday night – but hilariously found just the bin.
The 23-year-old was one-on-one with Club America goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, but his strike on goal missed the target as he aimed for the top left corner.
The Germany international was put through on goal by Conor Gallagher with the goal beckoning.
He pulled the trigger looking to bend his effort in the far corner, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.
The ball looked to be heading into the stand, but astonishingly ended up in a bin.
A onlooker watched, and eventually scooped it out in amazement.
Despite Havertz’s miss, Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners with Timo Werner opening the scoring 10 minutes after half-time.
Reece James put through his own net later on, before Mason Mount fired home the winner on 83 minutes.
“It was a tough match. Normally you start against a lower team where you can find your rhythm,” the German said afterwards.
“It’s very different from training, even if you train at a competitive level like in our squad.
“You could see that they’ve already started their season.
“They showed a physical game that we had to adapt to, and I’m happy nobody got injured.
“It was sometimes on the edge for a friendly game in pre-season, especially for us in our first match. But it was ok.
“We adapted to it and accepted it and did not get frustrated.”
