Cristiano Ronaldo has dismissed reports linking him with a sensational return to Sporting Lisbon.
The 37-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United amid their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Plenty of clubs have been linked with him and a picture on social media appeared to suggest he could go back to the club where he began his career on loan.
The picture appeared to show a car belonging to Ronaldo parked in the car park of the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Sporting’s home ground.
However, the Portuguese icon has poured cold water on any suggestion he could be on his way back.
Commenting on Sport TV Portugal’s social media post of the car allegedly belonging to him, Ronaldo said: “Fake.”
This denial will do nothing to ease the uncertainty surrounding Ronaldo’s future at Man United with the player yet to return to training with his club, although a family issue has been cited as the reason for this.
Ronaldo is training at home, posting a picture of him working out in his home gym wearing Man United shorts.
He was linked with former club Real Madrid as well as Chelsea, however, their interest in the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has cooled.
It’s also reported Ronaldo could’ve joined Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain but the French champions opted not to sign him.
