It’s no secret that the Love Island producers are slowly selecting more and more loved ones of famous people to appear on the show.
This year it’s been ex-Premier League footballer Michael Owen‘s daughter Gemma, while Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy has previously been on it. But it turns out another footballer’s kid could’ve been on it too – Danny Murphy‘s.
The former Liverpool star joined talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein on Drive on Tuesday, and, just like everyone in the country seem to be, the pair began to discuss Love Island.
Of course, Murphy has a reason – or so he says – to watch the hit show, and that’s to watch his former England and Liverpool teammate’s daughter, Gemma.
“I haven’t watched one for about four or five years, and then of course, Michael’s daughter is in it,” Murphy said on Drivetime.
“And I know Michael, I remember Gemma being born, actually.”
All eyes have been on Owen since Gemma went into the villa, with the former striker admitting seeing his daughter on the show is ‘a father’s worst nightmare.’
He’s been a good sport during the show though, posting some hilarious responses to clips of his daughter that he will have found pretty uncomfortable to watch.
And Goldstein soon asked Murphy if he would be happy if his daughters did the same thing and went on the show when they were older.
But it turns out he actually came close to being in the same position as Owen.
“Well, funnily enough my eldest son who’s 25 now, he got down to the last 25 when he was about 19,” Murphy admitted.
“I was praying he didn’t get on. Thank God he didn’t!”
