Lord Alan Sugar was called out during the BBC’s TV coverage of England’s thumping win over Norway at Women’s Euro 2022 following his tweets about women’s football commentators.

The business tycoon had posted to his 5.2 million followers that he was unhappy it was only women who were commentating on the women’s game.

This is despite the likes of Ian Wright and Jonas Eidevall, the Arsenal Women’s manager, featuring in the BBC’s line up. Likewise, on talkSPORT, Sam Matterface and Adrian Durham are part of the teams commentating on the tournament.

After presumably tuning in to the tournament at the weekend, Lord Sugar tweeted: “I am watching the women football and notice that ALL the comentators are women.

“I also note when men’s football is on there is a symbolic female commentator to cover the broadcasters a***. Should I complain there should me a male commentator in women’s football?”

And the former Tottenham Hotspur owner was soon called out by BBC Women’s Euro 2022 presenter, Gabby Logan.

“We have plenty of men working on this tournament Lord Sugar, don’t fret you’re not being eradicated,” Logan replied, tongue in cheek.

But Lord Sugar wasn’t going to be let off the hook there.

As England went 6-0 up after 45 minutes in their second game of the tournament against Norway on Monday, BBC commentator Robin Cowen sent the The Apprentice star a special message.

“We just had a lovely studio shot of one our studio guests, Jonas Eidevall, one of our symbolic men,” Cowen said.

“Good evening, Lord Sugar!”
