Nottingham Forest are in discussions over a potential move to sign Omar Richards this summer.
The 24-year-old completed a sensational move from Reading to Bayern Munich 12 months ago as he looked to challenge himself with one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Since moving to the German champions, Richards has made 17 appearances in all competitions, starting six matches in the process.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are now open to letting the full-back leave the club this summer.
It’s reported that a fee of around £10million would be enough to sign Richards, with further talks planned.
While he’s spent the last year in Germany, Richards undoubtedly has plenty of experience in the English game.
The defender made 104 appearances for Royals after coming through the club’s academy and establishing himself as a first team regular with the Berkshire club.
While things haven’t necessarily worked out at Bayern, Richards spoke to talkSPORT earlier this year and revealed how an experience in his teenage years has taught him never to take his career for granted.
Asked if he’d ever imagined that he would player for Bayern, he said: “Truthfully, no because of the shape my career was taking at the time.
“[After] being released by Fulham, I was then going on trials at other teams and I was getting a lot of no’s [and people saying] ‘you’re too small’, ‘you’re too weak’ or ‘you’re not what we’re looking for’.
“You get to a stage where you have to be realistic with yourself [and say], ‘OK, maybe this isn’t going to work and I need to actually do something else with my life’.
“So, that’s when I applied to go to college and I was going to put football second and have to focus on studies properly.
“Around that time, that’s when I started going to Reading and training there. Luckily enough it took off at Reading, but I literally saw the other side of where it could have gone.
“All of those things really affected me, but that’s when you really have to believe in yourself. I was a bit fortunate as well, but I worked really hard to get my opportunities.”
