Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Juventus centre-back and Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt.
talkSPORT reported the Blues were interested in a move for the Dutch defender, who has struggled since his move to Italy.
That’s along with a number of Premier League sides who are also interested in the former Ajax captain, who impressed when he took the Amsterdam side to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
Thomas Tuchel’s Blues are looking to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who joined Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively – but a deal could be complicated, due to the fee Juve want for their player.
talkSPORT’s Alex Crook told the Saturday Session that De Ligt’s release clause “is worth more than £100million”.
However, sources in Italy claim Chelsea are willing to spend about £40m and maybe include striker Timo Werner as a part exchange.
And the defender’s price tag could also be a problem for German champions Bayern, according to Sky Sports, who don’t want to pay more than £51.7m (€60m) for him.
That is quite a jump from the £68.6m (€80m) the Italian side want for him, which could prevent moves to either Bayern or Chelsea.
Sky Sports add that De Ligt would be keen on a move to the Bundesliga after the club’s pitch to him, which involved conversations with both boss Julian Nagelsmann and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
That would be a huge blow to the west Londoners, with Tuchel keen to bring in the highly-rated centre-back.
